A while back I posted that my “favorite at the time” was an auto lock tape measure. I found over time though the locks on the ones I had started to slip. So back to traditional tape locks. Trying these @crescent_tool Crescent Lufkin tapes. I’m diggin’ on the Nite Eye ones especially - they remind me of green text on a terminal screen (remember you’re dealing with a 25 year+ IT guy here). I love the ergonomics / size of the 16’ ones for bench / at tool use and the fact the body offset of the 25’ is exactly 3” - easy to math! (The 16’ body offset is 2 3/4” for reference. Still pretty easy math.) I have an old Lufkin folding rule with sliding brass depth extender that I’ve loved over the years. Let’s see how these do over time.

@sawstopsaws is assembled and in place. I had to modify the outfeed table a fair amount, and still need to run dust collection.

Needed new specs, mostly for the reading/close up work portion of the lenses. Thanks to the fine folks at @lunetteoptic , in particular Stacey at the Hingham location, for helping me in a pair with more vertical real estate, and fit my largish head (for reference, XL fitted baseball caps are a bit too snug for me 😂). For anyone in the Boston area, I recommend them.

I had to move the workbench out of the way to make room to roll the Sawstop into the “big tool” area. I’ve always wanted a bit more room between the face vice part of the bench and the tool wall, but also wanted a bit more room between the bandsaw and bench. With not the most even floors in the basement, I need to prevent bench wobble too. I think I just found a sweet spot! Who says things need to line up? Especially in an old house.
